Before we come out to perform a pool safety inspection, familiarise yourself with these points:
Climbable Objects – Objects that have toeholds or ledges that are at least 10mm must be kept at least 900mm away from the outside of the pool fence; they must be kept at least 300mm from the inside of the fence.
Branches – Trim back branches so they can’t be used to gain access to your pool area.
Pool Gates – Your pool gates must self-latch, self-close and swing away from your pool. The Latches should be at least 1.5 metres high.
Windows – Any windows that open into your pool area should have security screens or be restricted to open only 100mm.
Doors – You shouldn’t have any doors that open directly from your house into your pool area.
Pool Fences – Fences must be at least 1.2 metres high. Gaps should be less than 100mm, and there should be a non-climbable portion of at least 900mm.
Resuscitation Signs – You should be able to see your resuscitation signs from the pool area.
